CHALICE PUBLISHING NEWSLETTER
Xanten, Germany, April 2026
In the beginning there is love, and in the end there is love, and in the middle is work on oneself.
Reshad Feild

We are well aware of the fact that you haven’t heard from us at Chalice Publishing for a couple of years now. The simple reason is that there was little to report from our side, being busy mostly with publishing projects in the German language which we considered to be of little interest to English speakers. Today, however, we reach out to you with some news (and we hope not all of your email addresses on our old mailing-list will be outdated).
This May 31, it will be ten years since our esteemed teacher and beloved friend Reshad passed away in Devon. Along with many of you and other companions from around the world, we were given the invaluable privilege of learning from this wise and generous teacher for decades. In his memory, we have realized some publishing projects in recent months, two of which we would like to present to you today.
Firstly, after due consideration, we have decided to now publish all of the approximately fifty video recordings of public lectures and internal study classes Reshad Feild has given in Europe since 1990, which are held in our archives, in carefully restored videos over the course of this year. Starting on 23 April 2026, we will release a new video every Thursday morning on our newly designed webpage featuring Reshad Feild’s Video Archive as well as on our YouTube channel on the Playlist “Reshad Feild” (if you are subscribed to this channel, you will automatically be notified of the weekly new releases).
As a preview and adding to the already existing eleven videos on that page, we have uploaded today the recording titled What Are We Here For?, which depicts a study class held by Reshad in August 1993 at the then newly opened Johanneshof study center on the shores of Lake Lucerne in Switzerland.
In restoring these ‘historical’ videos, we realized anew with what timeless freshness and powerful sound of wisdom and love the voice of this charismatic teacher can still touch an open heart. In order that these treasures won’t dust away in some attic and fall into oblivion, but will remain accessible to future generations who might have ears for their message, we make them available to everyone interested.
We remember vividly sitting with Reshad in a taverna on the island of Crete and discussing how this treasure of video material should be preserved for the future when, speaking of inner teachings which once have been given, he strongly emphasized that, “Nobody can own these things!”, and reminded us to think of “those who will come after us.”
Secondly, we have also, in the course of this work, updated the webpage of Reshad Feild’s Music and Poetry, where you now will find a selection of historic videos from his early years with the folk trio The Springfields (in 1961). A particularly impressive part to watch is his solo in the video TV Show with The Springfields (starting at 4:45 minutes), where he performs the Sam Cooke song “I Am Just a Country Boy”.
Also on that page you can now listen to his two music CDs, which have been out of print for some years, The Flute Maker: His Songs and Music (of 2003) and Rumi: Where Everything Is Music (of 2006), and read the lyrics as well as the recited poems by Rumi (translated by Reshad’s friend Coleman Barks) respectively.
In case you like to consult Reshad’s daily ‘snippet quote’, you will now find it unter the page containing his papers.
We are finishing this Newsletter with the following lines from one of his poems:
Completion does not start, nor is there any ending to the movement of truth itself.
The end of a cycle is not the end of possibility, it is only the beginning.

We hope you are well and we send you our very best wishes
